October

Two hand Colourwork Knitting: Thursday October 3rd 6:30pm - 8:30pm.

 Learning to be able to knit with yarn from both hands is the first step in being able to knit with yarn coming from both hands at the same time.

In this workshop you will learn how to knit with yarn from your non dominant hand and then you will try knitting with two colours, one from each hand. Sign up here. 

Sudden Bliss, brioche shawl: Starts Saturday October 5th, 10am - 12pm. 3 part series. 

Sudden Bliss Shawl (Ravelry link) by Kristina Vilimaite is a stunning brioche shawl, made with fingering weight yarn, this triangle shawl starts at the tip with 2 colour brioche, then morphs into a beautiful undulating leaf pattern before finishing off with one colour lace border. Sign up here.

Cuff Down Socks: Starts Saturday October 5th, 12:30pm - 2pm, 4 part class.

A sock class for anyone who has never knitted socks before. Over 4 weeks you will learn how to make cuff down socks. You will learn all aspects of cuff down socks, heel stitch, short rows to turn a heel, picking up stitches and graft your stitches to close your toe at the end. Sign up here.

Cables and Bobble workshop: Sunday October 6th, 1:30pm - 3:30pm

Cables and bobbles are so much fun! Explore the endless fun of this technique with the beautiful Rowchoish shrug design by Kate Davis. During the workshop we will work a swatch of the cable and bobble design. You will learn how to follow a chart, cable front and back, make bobbles and learn how to make your bobbles stand proud!  Sign up here.

Ladderback Jacquard workshop: Thursday October 10th, 6:30 - 8:30pm.

In this workshop you will learn the *super cool* ladderback jacquard technique, similar to double knitting, a clean way to work long floats along the back of your colourwork projects. Sign up here.

Knit a Sweater that fits you: Starting Tuesday October 15th, 6:30 - 8pm, 6 part class.

Learn not only how to knit a sweater, but also how to make one that fits you the way you want it to in this in-depth five part class. Making a sweater is reasonably straightforward, making a sweater that fits is entirely different. Sign up here. 

Sensit crochet sweater class: Starts Wednesday October 16th, 6:30 - 8pm, 6 part class.

Sensit Sweater by Linda Skuja is a beautiful flowing textural crochet sweater design. A pleasure to make and oh so satisfying to see it come to life!

In this 6 part class we will make the sweater together and ensure it fits you how you like! We will discuss adjustments for body length and sleeve length - the beauty of making our own clothes is the ability to make them how we want them to be!  Sign up here.

Spirit of Flora class: Starts Thursday October 17th, 6:30 - 8:30pm, 4 part class.

Spirit of Flora (Ravelry link) by Jane Crowfoot is an epic design! Originally released as a make-a-long in 2023 with Inside Crochet magazine, the patterns have now been released for general purchase. During this 4 part, 8 hour class, we will work through all the techniques you need to complete motifs 1 - 4, (pattern bundle 1) Sign up here.

Learn to Crochet: Starts Sunday October 20th, 11:30am - 1pm. 4 part series. 

A beginner level class for anyone who has never picked up a hook or if you are in need of a refresh. You will learn how chain stitch, single crochet, half double crochet and double crochet, then apply these skills to making a scrubby and an amigurumi rainbow. Sign up here.

Beginner's Tunisian Crochet: Starts Sunday October 20th, 1:30pm - 3pm, 4 part class.

You will learn how chain stitch, work the Tunisian simple stitch, Tunisian Knit stitch, single crochet and apply these skills to make a dishcloth, neck warmer and/ or wristwarmer.

Moth Shawl mosaic crochet workshop: Saturday October 26th, 2:30pm - 5pm

Moth Shawl by (Ravelry link) by Esme Crick uses the inset/ 2-row mosaic crochet technique to create this beautiful DK weight shawl. This class covers how to work inset/ 2-row mosaic crochet, how to make a tassel, finishing the edges and optional how to enclose the chains. Sign up here.

Magic Circle Scarf: Sunday November 3rd & 24th, 3:30pm - 6:30pm, 2 part class.

Magic Circle Scarf by Janie Crowfoot is an absolute beauty! Rebecca enjoyed every moment making this scarf.

In this two part class you will learn how to confidently make the circles, semi-circles and quarters. Work the frames, and how to crochet the motifs into the frame, as well as best practices for sewing in your ends! A demo will be shown for the outside border in the last class. Sign up here.

Fair Isle & Steeking: Starts Tuesday November 5th, 6:30 - 8:30pm, 2 part class.

The first week we will cover two handed colourwork Fair Isle knitting including catching/ weaving in your yarns. If two handed colourwork is not for you, Rebecca will show you how to work with yarns coming from the same hand so your yarns don't tangle too. The second week, we will Steek! Sign up here.

Honey Brioche, one colour brioche and cables class: Starts Saturday November 9th, 2:30 - 4:30pm, 2 part class.

Honey Brioche Cowl (Ravelry link) by Stephen West is a squashy, puffy, fully reversible cowl. This class is for those of you who haven't cabled or complete a brioche project before! In the first class you will start the cowl with an icord, picking up stitches and starting the cables. In the second class you will learn one colour (flat) brioche!  Sign up here.

Fixing Mistakes: Wednesday November 20th 6:30 - 8:30pm.

This workshop is for those of you who would like to learn how to fix your mistakes in knitting. Regardless of how long you've been knitting for, you never stop making mistakes, the key is becoming confident in fixing them in an efficient and stress less way! Sign up here.

Toe up sock class: Starts Thursday November 21st, 6:30 - 8:30pm, 3 part class.

A sock class for anyone who has never knitted socks before. Over 3 weeks you will learn how to make toe-up socks. You will learn all aspects of toe-up socks, Judy's magic cast-on, left and right lifted increases, Japanese short rows, stretch bind off and how to sew in your ends neatly. Sign up here. 

Needle Felting, Winter edition: Saturday November 23rd, 12:30 - 2:30pm.

Join us for a 2 hour workshop in Needle Felting, no previous experience required. Needle Felting is a quick and fun way to make three dimensional fibre pieces. 

Local artist, Mel Broome will be hosting this beginners event, and will teach you the basics of 3D needle felting, the tricks to creating a fine finish on your work, how to mix and shape wool like a pro. Sign up here.
