Sudden Bliss Shawl | Brioche, Patterned Brioche and lace

This is an in person class held at Baaad Rabbits in New West.

Intermediate: You need to have completed a brioche project before and feel comfortable working 2 colour brioche. Previous experience in lace not required.

Sudden Bliss Shawl (Ravelry link) by Kristina Vilimaite is a stunning brioche shawl, made with fingering weight yarn, this triangle shawl starts at the tip with 2 colour brioche, then morphs into a beautiful undulating leaf pattern before finishing off with one colour lace border.

In the first class we will get started, Rebecca will show you the icord cast one to set up for the alternative edging technique (work as you go instead of an applied icord at the end) and will include a refresh of 2 colour brioche. Rebecca will also have a handout with the alternative rate of increases for the first section.

The second class we will start the patterned brioche together, and the third class the lace.

Dates: 

• Saturday October 5th, 19th and November 2nd, 10am - 12pm.

Materials required (not included):

• Sudden Bliss Shawl (Ravelry link) by Kristina Vilimaite
• Fingering weight yarn in two solids/ semi solids with high contrast. Sample uses WildWestDye's Merino/ cashmere/ silk singles, 400m required in each colour. See all fingering yarn here.
• Spare yarn available if needed for working the swatch if your homework is not complete.
• 3.25 - 3.75mm/ US size 3 - 5 needles - 32 inch cord and 5.5mm - 6.5mm needles. (Needle size will depend on thickness of fingering weight yarn and personal gauge. Rebecca used 3.75mm & 6.5mm with WildWestDye's singles)
• Stitch markers preferable ones designed to work next to yarn overs.
• Darning Needle
• Cable needle or 1 x DPN similar size to the smaller size needle
• Thin strong yarn for life lines

Make up classes are not available, if you miss a session, Rebecca will do her best to get you back on track. Help & Assistance workshops are also available.

Credit for future classes or a refund minus $15 administration fee will only be provided if we are notified either by phone or email at least 3 days (72 hours) in advance of the class or workshop.

Please note - Baaad Rabbits is located in an old building with no insulation - if it is cold outside, the shop is also cold in the morning - please dress accordingly.
