Retro Rings Tee | Knitted top class | 4 part class

BEGINNER-INTERMEDIATE. You need to know how to knit and purl and fix basic mistakes to take this class.

Retro Rings Tee is a great all season top, an enjoyable striped yoke, perfect for a that single skein of fun yarn (or maybe one you've hand painted!)

Learn how to knit a circular yoke top and how to adjust it to fit you to your chest and bicep measurements, really useful if you need more circumference in the chest on your front compared to your back.

Classes include homework, with two week intervals between classes 2-3 & 3-4 to ensure you get the most out of each lesson.

You will need to be comfortable with measuring your body in class.

Tuesday June 18th & 25th 6:30-8:30pm, July 9th and 23rd, 6:30-8pm.

Materials required (not included):

Sweater top quantity of yarn in two colours of fingering weight yarn, yardage per size details on Ravelry page, you can ask in store for help with this if needed.

Lots of yarn options to choose from! Sample shown is WildWestDye pure merino fingering in MidnightGazer and a handpainted skein, see workshop here. 

If you want multi-coloured rings like the design sample, then Edelweiss 25g balls will be perfect, Okanagan Dyeworks Zebra yarn available in store would also be super fun.

Pattern to be purchased from Ravelry

A range of needles in: 3.25mm - 3.5mm for stockinette and needles 2 sizes smaller for ribbing. - You will be swatching on 3.25mm and 3.5mm. Rebecca will email gauge instructions to you.

You will need circular needles for the body (32-47" cord) 

A top you like the fit of (can be hand made or shop bought) that you will bring with you to the first class - do not wear the top to the class.

General notions; stitch markers, tape measure, darning needle, spare yarn for placing stitches on hold, spare circular needle or Barber cords for placing stitches on hold when trying on.

In this 4 part class we will discuss/ learn and explore the following:

• How you like a top to fit you & what adjustments you need to make, how to make a circular yoke design fit you how you want it too.
• All about gauge. 
• Short rows.
• Invisible increases, how to read your fabric.
• Picking up stitches
  
• Tips & Tricks including cast-on methods for underarm stitches and how to sew in your ends for jogless stripes.

Class one: Measure your gauge, measure a top, confirm the stitch count your require for your total yoke and cast on! Make sure you understand how to work the invisible increases.

Homework: Complete the neck ribbing.

Class two: Work the short rows together and make sure you understand how to work the invisible increases.

Homework: Complete the yoke.

Class three: We will try on your top, make sure you are happy with the fit, cast on for the underarm, and discuss any shaping you wish to add. 

Homework: Complete your body.

Class four: We will pick up stitches for the sleeve, sew in your ends for jogless stripes, learn reverse duplicate stitch, and how to finish bind offs neatly.

Trained in Fashion & Textiles with 17 years as a Pattern, Fit and Garment Technologist, your instructor Rebecca is passionate about people learning how to knit to fit. We all have our individual body shapes, and personal preferences, and when we make clothes we have the power to make them fit as we wish them too.

Make up classes are not available, if you miss a session, Rebecca will do her best to get you back on track. 

Credit for future classes will only be provided if we are notified either by phone or email at least one week in advance of the class or workshop, or a refund minus $15 administration fee. 

Please note - Baaad Rabbits is located in an old building with no insulation - if it is cold outside, the shop is also cold in the morning - please dress accordingly.
