Natural Dyeing Workshop | Dye a Rainbow | Indigo and Handpainting workshop

 No experience required.

This is an in person workshop held at Baaad Rabbits in New West. 

In this hands on workshop you will Naturally dye your own rainbow! 

A selection of natural dye extracts and shifters will be provided along with a 100g skein of WildWestDye’s Merino/ cashmere/ nylon DK yarn prepared for natural dyeing

First you will choose where you want to place your resists, prepare your yarn, then it will be dyed in the Indigo Vat. 

You will learn how to prepare extracts, use shifters, combine colours then hand paint your own yarn! For the rainbow, red, orange, yellow, green (green is achieved by overdyeing the indigo sections with yellow) along with brown and black. There can also be pink, but I'm not sure how light pink it will be, I will do some tests!

Non cochineal red can be available.

• 1 x 100g/ 225m skein of Wildwestdye’s Merino/ cashmere/ nylon DK weight yarn.
• Rubber gloves
• Indigo Dye Vat & extracts for hand painting.

Materials required:

• Wear old clothes or an apron
  
• Crochet, Knitting or stitching to work on whilst yarn is in the vat and steaming (maybe a snack too!).

100g skein is perfect for a hat, wristwarmers or a cowl!

Workshop will take place rain or shine! We will have a canopy available in case of rain and for shade.

Rebecca dyed her first fibre when she was 16 years old and started exploring Natural dyes when she moved to Vancouver in 2015. She launched WildWestDye in May 2020 and loves sharing how bright and colourful Natural dyes can be.

Cancellation policy: Store credit will only be provided if we are notified either by phone or email at least one week in advance of the class or workshop, or a refund minus $15 administration fee. 

We request you do not attend the class if you are feeling unwell, please note, partial class refund is not available, and the one week cancellation policy applies.

Please note - Baaad Rabbits is located in an old building with no insulation - if it is cold outside, the shop is also cold in the morning - please dress accordingly.
