BEGINNER-INTERMEDIATE. You need to know how to double crochet and count your stitches, previously completed a project where you worked in the round turning at the end of every row is helpful.
Learn how to crochet a sweater that fits! This fun raglan style sweater utilizes double crochet and V stitches for a wardrobe staple! You will learn how to crochet to fit and make a sweater you want to wear!
Rebecca choose a cropped, half sleeve style, this is your sweater and the body length, sleeve length, and ease can be as you wish!
Classes include homework, with intervals where needed to ensure you get the most out of each lesson.
You will need to be comfortable with measuring your body in class.
Dates:
- Saturday September 26th 12pm - 2pm, subsequent classes are 12pm - 1:30pm as follows; October 3rd, 17th, November 7th, 21st and December 5th.
Materials required (not included):
Sweetheart Jersey (Ravelry link) pattern by Nomad Stitches
Sweater quantity of yarn in DK.
Quantities are on Ravelry page, there are yardage requirements for cropped or hip length.
A range of hooks in: 3.5mm/ 3.75mm/ 4mm/ 4.5mm/ 5mm. You will be making a dc swatch and a V stitch swatch, Rebecca will send instructions.
A sweater you like the fit of (can be hand made or shop bought) that you will bring with you to the first class - do not wear the sweater to the class.
General notions; stitch markers, tape measure and darning needle.
In this 6 part class we will discuss/ learn and explore the following:
- How you like a sweater to fit you & what adjustments you need to make.
- All about gauge; measuring your gauge in dc as well as V stitch to ensure you achieve the fit you want.
- Adding length to the front or back if needed for your body shape before you split for sleeves.
- How to add shaping to the body if needed for the fit you want.
- Increases, decreases and Foundation single crochet.
- How to personalize your sleeve to be the length and fit you want.
- Alternative single crochet through the back loop for ribbing, and best practices for the edge stitches for necks and hems.
Class one: Learn how to check your gauge, check measurements of your favourite sweater, and your body; chest/ bicep etc. Confirm size and we will start the foundation single crochet together.
Homework: Complete your foundation single crochet starting 'chain'.
Class two: We will start the neckline, working back and forth making sure you understand stitch marker placement, increases, and how to count and follow your rows.
Homework: Complete your neckline
Class three: Start the yoke, complete your calculations for yoke increases/ depth of yoke.
Homework Complete the yoke of your sweater.
Class four: We will all try on our sweaters to make sure we are happy with the yoke depth and split for sleeves - we will discuss waist and hem shaping.
Homework Complete the body of your sweater.
Class five: Trying on your sweater, calculating your personilzed sleeves, and starting your sleeves.
Homework Completing your sleeves.
Class six: All about bands! Working the alternative single crochet through the back loop ribbing, alternative edge stitches, discussing split bands and sewing in ends. Also discussing blocking best practices.
Homework Block your sweater and wear with pride!

Make up classes are not available, if you miss a session, Rebecca will do her best to get you back on track. Help & Assistance workshops are also available.
Credit for future classes or a refund minus $15 administration fee will only be provided if we are notified either by phone or email at least 3 days (72 hours) in advance of the class or workshop.
Please note - Baaad Rabbits is located in an old building with no insulation - if it is cold outside, the shop is also cold in the morning - please dress accordingly.

Trained in Fashion & Textiles with 17 years as a Pattern, Fit and Garment Technologist, your instructor Rebecca is passionate about people learning how to knit to fit. We all have our individual body shapes, and personal preferences, and when we make clothes we have the power to make them fit as we wish them too.
Rebecca has been knitting since she was 7 years old and crocheting since she was 10! She has always had a love for textiles and colour. Teaching people how to knit and crochet expresses one of her greatest joys; sharing her creativity and passion with people.
