Rock it Tee | Knitted top class

BEGINNER-INTERMEDIATE. You need to know how to knit and purl and fix basic mistakes to take this class.

Rock it Tee is a great V neck top perfect for Spring and Summer, an enjoyable striped knitted top you'll want to make again and again!

Learn how to knit a V neck top that fits you the way you want it to in this 3 part, 6 hour class.

Classes include homework, with two week intervals to ensure you get the most out of each lesson.

You will need to be comfortable with measuring your body in class. 

Dates: 

Tuesday April 30th, May 14th and 28th, 6:30-8:30pm.

Thursday May 2nd, 16th and 30th, 6:30 - 8:30pm

Tuesday May 7th, 21st and June 4th, 6:30 - 8:30pm

Materials required (not included):

Sweater top quantity of yarn in two colours of yarn, either both fingering, or a fingering and mohair/ suri, yardage per size details on Ravelry page, you can ask in store for help with this if needed. Lots of options to choose from! Green sample is Woolerton Estate Engineer Tweed and Cousin Burley. Pink/ yellow sample is Lily and Pine Day Lily and Dandelion Lace.

Pattern to be purchased either from Ravelry or Tanis Fibre Arts.

A range of needles in: 3.5mm/ 3.75mm/ 4mm - You will be swatching on each size. Rebecca will email gauge instructions to you.

You will need circular needles for the body (32-47" cord) 

A top you like the fit of (can be hand made or shop bought) that you will bring with you to the first class - do not wear the top to the class.

General notions; stitch markers, tape measure, darning needle, spare yarn for placing stitches on hold, spare circular needle or Barber cords for placing stitches on hold when trying on.

In this 3 part class we will discuss/ learn and explore the following:

• How you like a top to fit you & what adjustments you need to make.
• All about gauge. 
• Increases, yarn overs, how to read your fabric.
• Picking up stitches
• Icord bind offs.
• Tips & Tricks including cast-on methods for underarm stitches and how to sew in your ends

Class one: Measure your gauge, measure a top, confirm the size you are making and cast on! Make sure you understand how to read the yarn over increases for the raglan.

Homework: Complete the yoke.

Class two: We will try on your top, make sure you are happy with the fit, cast on for the underarm, set up for the side detail and discuss any shaping you wish to add. 

Homework: Complete your body.

Class three: We will start the icord bind off for the hem and pick up stitches, start the icord bind off for the sleeves and sew in ends.

Make up classes are not available, if you miss a session, Rebecca will do her best to get you back on track. 

Credit for future classes will only be provided if we are notified either by phone or email at least one week in advance of the class or workshop, or a refund minus $15 administration fee.
