Crochet Sweater Class | Sensit Sweater

BEGINNER-INTERMEDIATE. You need to know how to double crochet confidently and count your stitches. If you haven't made a crochet sweater before, this class is for you!

Sensit Sweater by Linda Skuja is a beautiful flowing textural crochet sweater design. A pleasure to make and oh so satisfying to see it come to life!

In this 6 part class we will make the sweater together and ensure it fits you how you like! We will discuss adjustments for body length and sleeve length - the beauty of making our own clothes is the ability to make them how we want them to be!

Classes include homework, with two week intervals to ensure you get the most out of each lesson.

You will need to be comfortable with measuring your body in class.

Dates: 

Tuesday February 13th & 27th, March 12th & 26th, April 9th & 23rd, 6:30-8pm.

Materials required (not included):

Sweater quantity of worsted weight yarn, sample shown made with Cascade 220.

Quantities are on Ravelry page.

A range of hooks in: 4.5mm/ 5mm / 5.5mm/ 6mm / 6.5mm. You will be gauge swatching before the start of the class, Rebecca will send instructions to you. 

A sweater you like the fit of (can be hand made or shop bought) that you will bring with you to the first class - do not wear the sweater to the class.

General notions; removable stitch markers, tape measure, darning needle.

In this 6 part class we will discuss/ learn and explore the following:

• How you like a sweater to fit you; body length/ sleeve length and ease.
• All about gauge. 
• Working puff stitches
  
• Short rows
• Sewing/ crocheting seams together.

Crochet stitches used:

• Chain & slip stitches
• Single crochet
• Half Double Crochet
• Double crochet
• Dc2tog (Double crochet 2 together)
• Sc-dc-tog (single crochet and double crochet worked together)
• Diagonal puff stitches

Class one: Learn how to check your gauge, check measurements of your favourite fitting sweater and your body; chest/ bicep etc. Confirm size, length, start your ribbing.

Homework: Complete hem ribbing and work row 1 of pattern (and extra rows if length desired is longer)

Class two: Working the puffs and making sure you understand how to work the pattern.

Homework: Complete to the end of row 11.

Class three: Working across the short row and starting the next repeat.

Homework Continue working the body. (both body panels up to the shoulder/ neck shaping to be complete before the start of class 5 on April 9th)

Class four: Discussing the sleeve length and size you wish to make, start the ribbing for the sleeve.

Homework Continue working on body and sleeves.

Class five: Working the shoulders and discuss options of sewing/ crocheting the seam together.

Homework Complete shoulders, sew shoulders and complete sleeves. 

Class six: Working the neckband, discuss sewing sleeves and body together.

Homework Complete your sweater!

Make up classes are not available, if you miss a session, Rebecca will do her best to get you back on track. 

Credit for future classes will only be provided if we are notified either by phone or email at least 3 days in advance of the class or workshop, or a refund minus $15 administration fee. 

Please note - Baaad Rabbits is located in an old building with no insulation - if it is cold outside, the shop is also cold in the morning - please dress accordingly.

Rebecca has been knitting since she was 7 years old and has always had a love for textiles and colour. Teaching people how to knit and crochet expresses one of her greatest joys; sharing her creativity and passion with people.
