Corinne Lapierre

Our new order of Corinne Lapierre has arrived! We've got lots of new kits and some customer favourites back too! I love the new 'Little Mouse' collection, and I'll be making 'Little Mouse makes a Quilt' soon I hope!

We've got 3 spots left for our Naturally Dye a Rainbow workshop happening next Sunday, 23rd August starting at 12:30pm!

A selection of natural dye extracts and shifters will be provided along with a 100g skein of WildWestDye’s Merino/ cashmere/ nylon DK yarn prepared for natural dyeing

First you will choose where you want to place your resists, prepare your yarn, then it will be dyed in the Indigo Vat, you will then hand paint your rainbow with extract and the yarn will be steamed to set. We had a lot of fun in the July workshops and I'm looking forward to more rainbows next weekend!

Crochet a sweater that fits class is coming!

It's coming! Next week I should be ready to get the class up for sign up! I've been crocheting away and I'm getting so close!

The design is Sweetheart Jersey (Ravelry link) by Nomad Stitches. You will be making the sweater to your gauge and your measurements! I really love the textured V stitch body, with the regular double crochet sleeves. I can see myself making this in a few different yarns, and I like the idea of Highland Alpaca with an add in Tweed, and Teddy with a variegated mohair!! I'm going to make some swatches once I have this sample complete.

And of course, as you are making the sweater for you, you can have the sleeve length and body length just as you like it! Mine is a little cropped, and I'll be making half sleeves. I might do a long sleeve version with the Teddy and mohair though!

The Cardigan Class

You have been asking (ahem, yes for quite some time) for a cardigan class, and it's finally here!

Maggie Cardigan from PetiteKnit is a beautiful, timeless, cardigan design. Knit in one piece, with a contiguous shoulder/ sleeve cap for a one piece set-in-sleeve construction.

You need to be a confident beginner to intermediate to take this class. You need to know how to knit and purl, fix basic mistakes and ideally have previously made a sweater, or taken the Knit a Sweater class. I know for some people, a sweater really isn't there jam, so if you haven't made a sweater before, because you don't wear them, and you want to take this class, then sign right up.

We've scheduled a classes for either a Tuesday evening, Thursday evening or Saturday morning!

You will be knitting to fit and we will be measuring your chest and bicep in class and ensuring you knit to the right stitch count, with your gauge, to achieve the right fit.

There will also be a class dedicated to button bands and buttonholes! A polished finish especially down the centre front of a garment makes all the difference, and Rebecca is passionate about beautiful button bands and 90 degree corners!

The design suggests a Sport weight with a 23 gauge, however, instead of this I chose Highland Alpaca Tweed DK with a 22 stitch gauge. The reason for this is because, a, I love DK, and b, I think a 23 stitch gauge on Sport errs on the side of too drapey for my liking for a cardigan, so DK it was!

The class does cover recalculating your stitch counts for the size you want with your gauge, and as long as you are achieving 22 - 24 stitch gauge you are good to go!

I specially brought in a few of the colours of Highland Alpaca Tweed DK earlier in the year so I could knit this sample, and the full collection of colours will be arriving next week.
