And Dive into Double knitting, workshop + inspo!
New Embroidery kits from McreativeJ
We have some stunning new embroidery kits from McreativeJ, suitable for beginner's to intermediate!
First up for the new-ish to embroidery is Embroidered Earring kit, these look awesome and I'm pretty sure I'm going to be taking a box home with me to stitch!
If you're ready for the next step up, Blooming Wildflowers gently introduces you to stumpwork with woven picots (for those of you who have seen my sample, this is the technique for the coral of the Coral Reef sampler by Kiriki)
And then, to dive into wire slip stumpwork with 3D Coneflowers and Stumpwork Strawberries, as shown above, which also includes Corded detached filled buttonhole stitch for the strawberries! I have the embroidery piece proudly displayed in store, and it always looks better in person! Be sure to take a look if you come by the store this weekend.
We've also brought in Melissa's Galbraith (MCreativeJ) 3D Botananical Embroidery & Stumpwork book, which I have at home already! It's a great sourcebook, includes 17 designs, and I have my eye on the Echinea Brooch, I'm pretty sure I'll be stitching that soon.
And I thought it would be a lot of fun to offer a Strawberry Stumpwork workshop this Summer, on Sunday July 19th at 10am. In the workshop you will work on the leaves, stitch a practice strawberry and I'll demo cutting out the piece and applying it to the final design!
If you haven't yet dived into Embroidery, we have one spot for our Embroidery 101 workshop tomorrow at 12pm, and we're offering it again on Saturday August 8th at 3pm.

Dive into Double Knitting
We're offering our Double Knitting workshop this July, on Sunday 12th at 12:30pm. It's a fun and engaging technique and I currently have two Double Knit WIPs!
Shown above is Time of the Doctor (Ravelry link) by Tess Campbell and the other one is the super cute Moominmamma (Ravelry link) by Grey level knitter which is well on it's way! I like to double knit with one yarn in each hand, but if that technique isn't your cup of tea, you can double knit with both yarns coming from the same hand too.
It's relatively straight forward to design your own double knit pictures, and there's lots of fan fun scarfs on Ravelry from Star Trek to Snoopy!
Double knitting also lends itself very nicely to be combined with brioche, which is really quite something. I have a design or two I want to make, and I've added some inspo. links for this technique too. We have a brioche workshop on Thursday July 23rd if you'd like to try out this technique too.
Double knitting inspo: all Ravelry links:
Counting Sheep hat by Lisa Hannan Fox
Whirl Scarf by Lisa Hannan Fox
Bubble Scarf 492 by Lucy Neatby
Sibe-Scarf by Virpi Tarvo
Victorian Raffia by Kieran Foley and Alasdair Post-Quinn - This scarf is SOMETHING!! It utilizes increases and decreases in the double knit fabric to create a smooth and undulating design, it's pretty amazing.
Double knitting AND Brioche inspo:
Seashell Legwarmers by Fanny Sommardahl. Firmly on my want to make list!
WinterSpring by Handmade by SMINE
Navigating by Dejana Knezevic

Summer Skill builders!
We've had a few enquiries when the next Fingerless gloves workshop would be, and if we could run another sock class this Summer, so they've both been scheduled in!
These two classes are great skill builders, you'll learn transferable skills and build up your confidence. The Fingerless gloves are specifically a great class to take if you have plans to take the sweater class this Fall, and socks are just fun too!
