The Whispering Shore Designed with singles in mind, you only need one ball for this side to side shawl. The strong 1x1 waving rib at the edge works well with variegated colours.

Vayu (Ravelry link) A beautiful crochet shawl I've currently got on my hook, I think this would look stunning in singles yarn (and I want to get another one started already) I would use a 4.5mm/ US 7 hook if making this in singles yarn.
