And a new Short row & Colourwork workshop too!

Naturally Dye a Rainbow workshop!

This year I've developed a fun new Natural Dye workshop, Naturally Dye a Rainbow!

I love rainbows, and it's so much fun to dye them. First you will choose where you want your blue to be, and where your rainbow will be.

I've dyed up three samples to show you different ways the rainbow can by dyed.

The bottom skein was tied so 2/3rds was indigo dyed and 1/3 not, this is my 'standard' rainbow!

The middle skein had 3 resists tied evenly-ish around which ends up with 6 rainbow sections, I refer to this as 'Too Many Rainbows'

The top skein was twist dyed, meaning the yarn was twisted up and dyed, this one is my 'Rainbow Cloud'

You can dye your rainbow any way you wish of course! You will apply ties to your yarn and it'll get dipped in the prepared Indigo Vat, then we'll prepare the extracts for hand painting. They'll be red, orange, yellow, green (which is achieved by overdyeing indigo with yellow) brown, black, and all going well a light pink (I need to run a few tests, pink is doable, just need to confirm the recipe for a light pink)

Once the extracts are prepared you will handpaint your skein, then it gets steamed to set the dye! We recommend you bring some crochet, knitting or stitching with you whilst the dye's are setting, and maybe a snack too!

Short rows and colourwork workshop

Cauline (Ravelry link) if a stunning shortrow and colourwork combo headband, by the designer Linnea Ornstein who specializes in designing with this wonderful technique.

Cauline headband is the perfect project to try this technique out and the workshop is suitable for new-to-knitters too! It's a relatively friendly technique (disclaimer there is a lot of counting!!) so even if you are new-ish to knitting you can take this fun workshop.

I've also put some WildWestDye kits together, either in the Trailway main colour, which is the colour I made the sample in, or a navy blue, Midnight.

Linnea Ornstein has so many beautiful designs, here are some of my favourites, all Ravelry links

Off my hook

Off my hook is Cross Stitch Vest (Ravelry link) by Sara Dudek, I absolutely love it, and I loved stitching the daffodils on the back, and front! It's currently proudly displayed in store!

If you'd like to dive into the world of cross stitch on crochet, we have a few spots left in our workshop on July 11th!
