New in store: Lace Weight, Hand Paints and more!
May 05 2026 – Rebecca Glazier
First up: Yarn!! We've had multiple enquiries for Lace weight yarn, so now in store is Lang Merino 400. This is a beautifully soft yarn, 25g/ 200m/ $8.95 a ball. Perfect for well, you know, making lace shawls and stunning things like that, but also great if you want to make a marl, and work a few colours together, or if you want to bulk up the weight of yarn you're working with (a little) and you don't want to use mohair or suri.
We've started off with 12 colours and if it proves popular we'll be happy to bring in more!

Anchor Bay Hand Paints
I mean really, how could I not bring in this yarn, one of Baaad Rabbit's most popular yarns in the Hand Painted version!
We have all eight colours available, it's the same base as Anchor Bay, 50% Cotton/ 50% Merino, 240m per 100g and $17.95. Cascade have some knit-up swatches you can take a look at on their website, but to note, how a hand painted/ variegated yarn works up is always dependent on personal gauge and stitch count of the item you are making. Cascade also have a few free patterns made with yarn too.
A couple of weeks ago I was ruminating about making this Cross stitch vest (Ravelry link) by Sara Dudek, and I was contemplating which colour I wanted to make it in. When the Hand Paints arrived I knew this could be just what I wanted! I crocheted up a swatch to make sure it didn't look too busy, and cross stitched on a daffodil from Caterpillar cross stitch Birthdays Botanicals design. I've had a couple of requests for a cross stitch on crochet workshop already, so watch this space!
I'm really pleased how it's looking and this is officially on my to make list, I've kinda got side tracked with a beautiful top from our Laine Publishing order though...

Laine Publishing
We're very happy to have brought in Laine's new Let's Crochet magazine, issue 2, Spring 2026. As soon as I opened the box, I made a beeline for the magazine and took a look through the designs. I stopped in my tracks pretty quickly at Good Point (Ravelry link) by Julia Madrill (a Canadian designer too!) To note, we have now sold out of Let's Crochet 2.
I have been very antsy about getting some of our new-ish Lang Baby Cotton onto my hook, all the colours are just so beautiful. As soon as I saw Good Point, I knew the stars had aligned. I'm using 028 Apricot, 059 Nectarine, 072 Turquoise, 174 Aqua and 158 Mint. I love the flow of colour, and I'm going to whip this up in no time.
I've also got my eye on Hana (Ravely link) by Ana Diakova, I might crochet this up in WildWestDye's Silk/merino sport.
Not only have we also restocked on Embroidery on Knits, and Tiny Friends, classic, beautiful books, we've also brought in Strands of Joy Vol 1. 20 beautiful colourwork designs, some beautiful flower inspired motifs (which you know I want to make) and more.

New DK and Make it Tweed!
I had to show off some of my wonderful Sweater class students! This is from the third class we've ran this year (and yup, the 5th class for the year, over the summer is now up!)
We were nearly cleared out of our Creative Make it Tweed with our sweater students, it looks great in the sweaters they made, and a lovely option to zhuzh up a stockinette sweater! All the colours are now back in stock.
We've also brought in Cascade BFL (Blue Faced Leicester) wool, in a lovely collection of soft spring colours, which you could use for this sweater and many more things of course!
Class schedule
We've still got some spaces on a few of our May classes; Intarsia and Ladderback Jacquard, Embroidery on Denim, Emotional Support Chicken, and our ever-so-popular Help & Assistance workshops for May had sold out, so I've added another 2 workshops for you!
I've been working on the June schedule, we have some skill builder workshops and classes, for knitter's crochet-ers, and Tunisian crochet-ers!
There has been a few requests for the Fingerless gloves, so this is back on in June, this is a *great* skill builder, perfect if you have goals to take the Knit a sweater that fits class! And of course the ever essential Learn how to fix mistakes!
For colourwork goals, we have Pressed Flowers Mosaic workshop, this is suitable for new knitter's as well as new to colourwork knitters! And Two Hand Colourwork for those of you who want to further your skills.
Crochet-ers we have the new Tapestry crochet and Surface decoration workshop, and the ever so wonderful Sophie's Universe, I've been collecting photos of our students-so-far progress and when I've got a few more I'll share them all, they are looking fabulous and reporting back how much they are enjoying it! (and to note, if you have taken this class and haven't brought in your WIP to show me, please do!!)
Intro to Ricourmi is being offered again in June, Summer is a perfect time to dive into Amigurumi (honestly, anytime of year is, obviously) but it is so much fun, and have you seen the *adorable* key chain Nancy made me, next time you're in, it'll be hanging off my pants!
And as per my Tunisian students request, the Kite Shawl is back for a workshop this June, it's a lovely squashy fabric, and you'll learn Tunisian Purl stitch as well as increases and decreases.
I've still got some openings for June so we'll see what happens in them in the next week or so!
