Hot off the needles with Petit Lapin!
October 21 2026 – Rebecca Glazier
How could I not?
A yarn called Petit Lapin? (Little Rabbit) how could I not order that for the store. When our order arrived last week, I was like a wild rabbit opening up the boxes to find the new yarn, grab my salmon colour, obviously, and stuff it in my bag so I could make a gauge swatch as soon as I got home!!
I wanted to make a wearable, something cosy, and preferably without sleeves. I came across Maureen Vest (Ravelry link) by Langyarns and it was just perfect! I especially liked the contrast smooth yarn for the ribbing.
So measuring a gauge swatch is shall I say interesting... I recommend clipping in removable stitch markers between a set amount of stitches so you can measure once you've washed the swatch. I used a 7mm needle to achieve a 9 stitch per 4 inch gauge, I would go up a needle size if you are a tight knitter.
Can you see the stitches, um, no, not really, but we can feel! I recommend believing the stitches are there to knit, and of course feeling them with your fingers.
I needed to tink and rip back a couple of times, it was doable, but I am a confident tinker/ ripper, if you are not I suggest using lifelines! I knit 4 rows of garter (knit every row) at the bottom which gives it that little ridge. I knit the body part in one piece, and the front panels 2 at a time as counting rows in the fabric is too challenging.
It was a fast knit, cast on Friday, cast off Sunday, yes, I know I'm a fast knitter, but still! Nothing like whipping something up on big needles.
For the ribbing I used the new Estelle Gemstone Bulky and there's some great pairings available!

Make it Yours!
I couldn't wait to get Make it Multicolour on my needles and hook too, I think this add-in works really well in both knitting and crochet. I went for 002 Unicorn paired it with a cream and decided to knit up a hat!
I used one of my designs, SpinYouRound (Ravelry link) and I loved seeing the colour knit up. I'm impressed how well the colour works with texture and it's a great way to zhuzh up a yarn, and make it yours!

Make it Paillettes
Our new Creative Make it Paillettes was just screaming to get onto my needle and hook this week too! I grabbed a spool of 011 Cream and paired it with our new Highland Alpaca DK Tweed in 01 Natural. The strand perfectly blends into the yarn and I absolutely love the gold sequins.
I love it so much that I just can't stop myself casting on a new top, I've chosen Poppy Tee (Ravelry link) by Petite Knit (yup, Poppy Tee is a sport weight design with a 23 stitch gauge, I have a 22 stitch gauge so will recalculate to achieve the chest size that I want)
Any DK pattern in your favourites will work well for this combo, we recommend pairing with Anchor Bay if you run warm, and Highland Alpaca if you run cold!
There's 4 colours to choose from, and there's just the right pairing with either Highland Alpaca or Anchor Bay as you can see below.

Choose your Paillette!
Creative Paillette 011 Cream paired with either Anchor Bay in 17 Dew or Highland Alpaca DK Tweed in 01 Natural
Creative Paillette 001 Ecru paired with either Anchor Bay in 40 Moonbeam or Highland Alpaca DK Tweed in 05 Silver
Creative Paillette 009 Beige paired with either Anchor Bay in 18 Taupe or Highland Alpaca DK in 02 Sand.
Creative Paillette 013 Black paired with either Anchor Bay in 05 Black or Highland Alpaca DK Tweed in 08 Coal.

Don't forget the socks!
We are collecting socks (store bought) all October long for people in our community with cold feet who could use a little warmth and kindness.
Baaad Anna’s & Baaad Rabbit's is teaming up with STASH Lounge, and Little Red Mitten to collect new socks for local organizations and mutual aid groups supporting people in need.
Bring in packs of new store-bought socks and you will get a entry ticket for the Soctober Prize basket. One ticket per pair; so feel free to costco-up and bring in multiples in packs!
The prize basket will start with two skeins of sock yarn from Paula's personal coveted stash. For every 100 pairs of socks donated in store, Paula will add another skein! That means the more socks we collect, the bigger the yarn haul gets.
We've now collected 26 pairs, how many socks will we get in our third week?!
