Fuse Cardigan | 8 part class

INTERMEDIATE - ADVANCED. You need to know how to knit and purl, fix mistakes and have made a sweater before to take this class.

Fuse by Veronik Avery is a stunning and unique design. The body and cowl style neckline is worked in one piece from bottom up, joining the sleeves at the underarm and finishing along the top neck.

Not only an interesting shape but with the addition of a lace pattern.

Techniques covered in this class:

• Provisional cast-on.
• Short rows
• Undoing your cast on and picking up live stitches.
• Picking up stitches.
• Make one left and right
• Knit front and back, and purl decrease stitches. 
• How to incorporate a lace pattern into increases and decreases.
• Grafting stitches.

Classes include homework which you need to complete each week to ensure you get the most from the class and finish your Fuse.

Included in the class price is Fuse (Ravelry link) pattern by Veronik Avery.

Dates:

Tuesday September 19th, 26th, October 3rd, 10th, 24th, November 7th, 21st and December 5th, 6:30 - 8pm.

First four classes are every week, last four are every other week.

Materials required (not included):

Sweater quantity of yarn in worsted or DK+mohair weight.  We recommend Umina + one of our mohairs.

5.5mm / US size 9 needles long circulars and needles for knitting the sleeves in the round (small circulars/ DPN's etc)

General notions; stitch markers, tape measure, darning needle, spare yarn for placing stitches on hold.. 

Class one: Checking your gauge swatch and starting your cardigan. We will be working short rows for the bottom band and ensuring you understand the Ridge pattern.

Homework: Complete your bottom ridge band.

Class two: Work the second set of short rows on the bottom band and pick up stitches along the band, undo provisional cast on.

Homework: Work wrong side row and place stitch markers for pattern repeat.

Class three: Starting the body, understanding the front increase row and how to incorporate the lace pattern into the increases.

Homework Continue working on your body.

Class four: Continuing on your body, any trouble shooting and setting up the ridge pattern for your sleeves.

Homework Completing the ridge pattern on your sleeves and continuing your body.

Class five: Set up the lace pattern in your sleeves and continuing your body.

Homework Completing your sleeves and body up till the armhole.

Class six: Splitting for your sleeves, inserting your sleeves and starting the yoke.

Homework Completing the yoke to the upper right corner.

Class seven: Working the upper right corner, understanding the upper left corner

Homework Continuing to the top corner.

Class eight: Working the top corner/ upper band and kitchener stitching your underarm.

Make up classes are not available, if you miss a session, Rebecca will do her best to get you back on track.
