CONFIDENT BEGINNER-INTERMEDIATE. You need to know how to knit and purl and fix basic mistakes to take this class, previously made a sweater or taken the Knit a Sweater class is beneficial but not essential.

Maggie Cardigan from PetiteKnit is a beautiful, timeless, cardigan design. Knit in one piece, with a contiguous shoulder/ sleeve cap for a one piece set-in-sleeve construction.

PetiteKnit writes her patterns in a certain way, one you've knitted one you'll be familiar with her style, so this is a great workshop if you've never knit one of her patterns before too!

Rebecca adjusted the ribbing to a 2x2 rib with an Icelandic bind off, you can either follow the patterns 1x1 with Italian bind off, or Rebecca's alternative.

You need to ensure you achieve a gauge between 22-24, the pattern is 23 and we will recalculate for your personal gauge accordingly.

We will be measuring your chest and bicep in class and ensuring you knit to the right stitch count, with your gauge, to achieve the right fit. Rebecca recommends 4" of positive ease for the chest if you want your cardigan to do up comfortably. Positive ease means the garment will be bigger than the chest.

Sleeve length and garment length to be as you wish! This is the benefit of making our own clothes, you can make them as you wish! If you are making a long sleeve, or a longer cardigan, please purchase additional yarn.

There will be a class dedicated to button bands and buttonholes! A polished finish especially down the centre front of a garment make all the difference, and Rebecca is passionate about beautiful button bands and 90 degree corners!

Classes include homework, with intervals where needed.

You will need to be comfortable with measuring your body in class.
