Friday Slipover | Knitted tank class | 4 part class

BEGINNER-INTERMEDIATE. You need to know how to knit and purl and fix basic mistakes to take this class, also suitable if you have never made a garment before.

Friday Slipver (Ravelry link) by PetiteKnit is a versatile shoulder season tank, wear by itself or layered! A textural broken rib pattern which looks equally fab in solids and variegated colours. 

Learn how to follow PetiteKnit patterns, how to customize the fit for your gauge as well as your personal torso length and chest circumference.

Classes include homework, with two week intervals between classes so you have time to complete your homework.

You will need to be comfortable with measuring your body in class. 

In this 4 part class we will discuss/ learn and explore the following:

• All about gauge. 
• Optional short rows.
• How to adjust fit for your personal torso length and chest circumference.
  
• Picking up stitches
  
• Tips & Tricks including cast-on methods for underarm stitches and how to sew in your ends.

Dates: 

Sunday June 8th & 22nd 10am - 12pm, July 6th & 20th 10am - 11:30am.

Materials required (not included):

• Quantity of yarn as per yardage details on Ravelry page. You can either use fingering + mohair, or DK weight. One colour, or choose two for a contrast ribbing! You can ask in store for help with this if needed.
• Lots of yarn options to choose from! Sample shown is WildWestDye merino/cashmere/silk for the variegated, and pure merino for ribbing.
• Pattern to be purchased from Ravelry
• A range of needles in: 3.25mm - 4mm. Rebecca will email gauge instructions to you.
• You will need circular needles for the body (32-47" cord) 
• A top you like the fit of (can be hand made or shop bought) that you will bring with you to the first class - do not wear the top to the class.
• General notions; stitch markers, tape measure, darning needle, spare yarn for placing stitches on hold, spare circular needle or Barber cords for placing stitches on hold when trying on.
  

Class one: Measure your gauge, measure a top, measure your chest, then cast on! Discuss optional short row shaping for shoulder slope, how deep to work your armhole, and how to work increases for armhole. 

Homework: Complete top back.

Class two: Picking up stitches along the shoulder for the front panel, working optional short rows, discuss front neck shaping and casting on stitches for neckline.

Homework: Complete top front.

Class three: We will try on your top, make sure you are happy with the fit, cast on for the underarm, and discuss any shaping you wish to add. 

Homework: Complete your body.

Class four: We will pick up stitches for the armhole, work optional decreases, discuss neckline ribbing, learn duplicate stitch over broken rib on the reverse side, and how to finish bind offs neatly.

Make up classes are not available, if you miss a session, Rebecca will do her best to get you back on track. Help & Assistance workshops are also available.

Credit for future classes or a refund minus $15 administration fee will only be provided if we are notified either by phone or email at least 3 days (72 hours) in advance of the class or workshop.
