INTERMEDIATE. You need to know how to brioche and previously completed a 2 colour brioche project.

Are you ready for a spectacular Brioche Sweater? Newspaper Pullover uses beautiful 2 colour brioche for this dynamic design. You can also choose to use the alternative syncopated brioche hem, cuff and folded neckline as used in Rebecca's sample.

In this class you will also learn how to adjust the pattern to fit your gauge and your body shape. Rebecca achieved a 18 sts gauge and not 21 as per pattern.

Trained in Fashion & Textiles with 17 years as a Pattern, Fit and Garment Technologist, your instructor Rebecca is passionate about people learning how to knit to fit. We all have our individual body shapes, and personal preferences, and when we make clothes we have the power to make them fit as we wish them too.

Classes include homework, with two week intervals  to ensure you get the most out of each lesson.

You will need to be comfortable with measuring your body in class.

Dates:

  • Sunday October 5th, 2:30pm - 4:30pm, subsequent classes are 2:30pm - 4pm on: October 19th, November 2nd, 16th & 30th, and December 14th.

    Materials required (not included):

Newspaper Pullover (Ravelry link) pattern by Joji Locatelli

Sweater quantity of yarn in fingering weight, sample uses WildWestDye merino/ cashmere/ silk singles.

A range of needles in: 3mm/ 3.25mm/ 3.5mm - You will need to complete a swatch before the start of the class. Measuring gauge on brioche is hard! Call the shop and come and see Rebecca so she can check it with you before the start of the class. Rebecca achieved a gauge of 18 sts per 4 inches, so if you don't meet gauge you can knit to your size accordingly.

You will need circular needles for the body (32-47" cord) and your preference for knitting small circumference; Magic loop/ DPN's/ Shorties. Rebecca recommends Shorties for brioche knitting.

General notions; stitch markers, tape measure, darning needle, spare yarn for placing stitches on hold, barber cord for placing stitches on hold when trying on.
