Off the needles!

February 16 2023 – Rebecca Glazier

Off the needles!
Off the needles!
Have you seen Paula's FO (finished object) yet? Hush sweater by Tin Can Knits, made with Umina 50% Alpaca/ 50% merino DK yarn and Pro Lana Kid Seta.

Paula loves to marl her mohair combos, it creates a really interesting colour. A marl is when you use combine two different colours together. Paula used Purple Sage Umina and Slate mohair in her Hush sweater.

Umina and mohair

Fuse (Ravelry link) by Veronik Avery, a stunning and interesting cardigan design would also work well in Umina+mohair.

Elah (Ravelry link) by Isabell Kraemer a top down cardigan with lace on the front, and a stockinette back - a good balance of interest and rest across a row!

If a cosy shawl is more your thing, then Winter Honey (Ravelry link) by Andrea Mowry full of honeycomb cables would work up beautifully.

And for a hat? How about Gro Hat (Ravelry link) by Fiber Tales. I love the textured trees and I'm rather tempted to get one on my needles...

As yet, I haven't tried crocheting with mohair - it's definitely something on my list to try though!

New Yarn in store

We have new yarns in store and online for you!
In store and online is Huasco Color, a sport weight yarn hand dyed alternating between solid sections and speckles.
I'm currently making a sock sample in Temuco which happily coincides with the sock class I'm teaching. With 75% Superwash merino and 25% polyamide this makes for a great sock yarn and I'm using 2.75mm/ US size 2 needles.

Sock on the needles

It would also make for a fun Sophies Scarf as seen here (Ravelry link)

If you'd like to have an idea what it would look like in a top, here it is in Rock It Tee (Ravelry link) by Tanis Lavallee.

It also looks beautiful in this 2 skein shawl, Close To You (Ravelry link) by Justyna Lorkowska.

There aren't many projects in crochet on Ravelry, I only found this one, Siobhan by Bernadette Anbergen, but I will have some yarn leftover from the sock sample and will crochet up a small cowl.

Pressed Flowers KAL progress

There's lots of flowers blooming! We have completed hats, second hats being cast on, and with the release of Savory Knitting's Pressed Flowers Cowl a couple of weeks ago, we have our first Pressed Flowers cowl (Ravelry link) cast on too!
