Off my hoop and on my hook!

Off my hoop and on my hook!
Off my hoop and on my hook!

My Ginkgo embroidered earrings are finished! I'm so pleased with how they've turned out, I've been proudly wearing one all week, and the second one is displayed in store! The design is from our new 3D Botanical Embroidery & Stumpwork book.

The design uses the wire slip technique, which is then covered with buttonhole stitch, and thread painted inside.

I'll be making the brooch next, and this time I think I'll use some of the Lichen & Lace embroidery yarn.

On my hook!

I saw a beautiful new top design released, Estepona sweater (Ravelry link) by Ana D this week. I just had to download the pattern and make a gauge swatch in the *divine* Hand Maiden Flyss in Coral straight away! I've been eyeing up this colour since we brought it in, waiting for the perfect time (Summer) and perfect pattern!

The design mentions Sport, but I was pretty sure it would work with fingering as well, and yup, it does. I'm starting with a foundation double crochet, and the rows are coming along nicely!

I absolutely love the subtle changes in hand dyed semi-solids, along with the reflection of the light in the silk this yarn is such a dream to work with.

If you wanted a commercial option for this design, Cascade Cotton Sox, Lana Gatto Fresh, BC Garn Bio Balance or Lang Baby Cotton would all be great choices.

I'm not sure if I'll add sleeves yet or not, we'll see when the front and back are complete.

Upcoming Crochet classes

We've got some fun crochet workshops coming up next month. A new workshop, Crochet Cables, quickly sold out, so I've added a second one on Saturday August 29th.

We've also got another Mimic scarf workshop scheduled, this is great for new-to-crochet-ers too, as it's basically a slightly fancy granny square (ish!). Nikki has been working on her's (above) and it's coming along so nicely!

We also have Learn to Crochet, if you haven't dived into the wonderful world yet, and Intro to Amigurumi.

Next week I'm going to be planning some workshops for September, so if there's something you missed out on this Summer and would like to see offered again, do let me know. I've had a couple of requests for Cross Stitch on Crochet, and I think another Shortrow Colourwork workshop would be wanted too!

Email the store with your requests, or let us know if you pop by this weekend!

On my hoop!

Llama progress! I've started the Turkey work on his head, and it'll nearly be ready to work the outline. I'd noticed that yet again, I had inadvertently chosen a design in Baaad Rabbit shop colours!!
